Preparation and Usage

Cooking InstructionsGravy: Blend one tablespoonful of Cornflour into about two of meat juices, mix until smooth. Stir in a half pint of stock, bring to the boil, allow to simmer for one minute, stirring all the time. Season to taste.To thicken soups, stews, casseroles and similar dishes: Use one tablespoon of Cornflour to each half pint of liquid used in recipe. Blend the Cornflour with a little cold water to a thin cream. Stir into soup, stew, or casserole. Simmer for three minutes.White Sauce: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter, remove from heat, blend in 2 tablespoons of Cornflour. Stir in half a pint of milk. Bring to the boil and simmer for one minute, stirring all the time. Season to taste.Cakes and Desserts: Add 4 parts plain flour to 1 part Cornflour to create a lighter cakes and puddings.Stir-Fry: Use Cornflour when stir-frying to create thick glossy sauces. Blend 2 tablespoons of Cornflour with 3 tablespoons of water and add to the sauce. Simmer until sauce thickens and clears.
